Hey again.
Shellback will tell you I have a bit of an issue with excitement and what i like to call "Ready to Rollness."  So the plan for us today was jeff would get there around 9-930.  I was supposed to have the dogs so i was gonna get there early and let them run on the beach before i had to leave them in the truck for the day.  So my alarm goes off at six and my wife tells me that she is staying home and i dont need to take the dogs.  Now on any normal day i would have been out the door at 6:30 at a 9.9 on the amped scale.  But today i say no way.  make some oats and enjoy a morning coffee.  i get moving a few hours later and while on the road i call jeff.  he is already there.  i cant believe he was there before me, waiting.  so then i felt bad but soon got over it. and now the good stuff.

everyone on here has seen those days on swellinfo.com where its looks like it gonna be an amazing day, then you get to the spot and it looks like its gonna be an amazing day.  then you get in the water and the surge makes you feel likes its gonna be a lonnnnnng ass day.  where all i can say is continue to battle.  me and shellback got out there today and it was pretty rough but we came out with some real nice fish.  Shellback started the day off hot with a nice rockie and 2 nice cabbies all in the long spam of what seemed like 42.6 seconds.  he was off to a hell of a start.  so i picked up a little greenling and then decided to go check out EEL rock.  which is at the start of eel alley.  rick you know where this is :smt002.  I check a crack a that i know held a big eel before and i see two beady little eyes looking up at me.  I looking him dead in the eye an say "hey monkey, count backwards from 10 to 1.  he got to te before he was paralyzed.  Final count was 28".  for the next few hours we proceeded to stroll around the grocery store of life for fresh, Perch rockies, greenlings and cabbies.  And those damn lings swimming around without a care in the world.  I told one today "somedays your the dog, somedays your the hydrant" and his day will come.  big jim i borrowed your famous pose but i did it in honor of you.  all in all it was awesome day.  glad that jeff got what he set out for but he will tell you more about it.  Pictures will be posted a bit later.  Throw em up shellback

lol....your like the anton chigure*  of spearos , next time ask the eel "how much hes ever lost in a coin toss" before you give or dont give him the business!

* anton chigure is a cold blooded hitman from the movie "no country for old men" who flips a coin before deciding to kill someone with a pressurised air tank thing , real coldblooded.

Nice, dude! I think that rock will keep producing, because when I go poke poling, I always check out holes that I remember I caught fish in the last time, and the vacancy is refilled most of the time.

"ready to rollness" is a bit of an understatement when talking about Hotplate.  This guy goes from zero to friggin amped in a quarter second.  There is no stopping him, if I would have called him Thursday night and canceled on him for any reason I dont know what would happen.  So to my suprise I got to SWS before him!  Wow!  But my real suprise happend at the gas station on my way there.  Thanks a lot, whoever is responsible for this.  I'll stop right here before I get myself banned.

After Mr. Hotplate shows up we hit the water.

As Hotplate said, I had a good day, two cabbies, my first legal ones by the way, right off the bat.  But after seeing Rick, BigJim, and everyone else with these eels I was on the hunt!  I'm over in Eel alley and I hear Hotplate yell for me and hold up one HOG of an eel!  I was going to give him a thumbs up but instinct took over and I flipped him off! :thefinger: I didnt mean it dude!  Trust me, I was stoked for you!  :party Anyhow, we were on the hunt.  Here is Hotplate loaded up and ready to get some food for the table, and here he is with his catch.

So after hearing from Hotplate about Eel Rock, I check it out and see the head of something ugly staring at me! So I shoot first and ask questions later!  First shot was a miss, but I stick it out and wait for it.  I see it again, line up the shot and nail the bastard right in the dome!  It starts thrashing around in its hole so I keep pressure on the spear and keep it pinned down and go back up (in about 6' of water) and get some air then go back down and work it out of the hole.  Boo-yah, 22" MFE!  I feel like my skills are progressing as a spearfisherman and I was being selective with my shots and passing up fish that I thought were on the small side.  I got my 2 cabbies, my eel, a good sized blue, a 16 1/4" Greenling and a chunky kelp rockfish.  Great day out there with my buddy Hotplate.  You can be my wingman anytime Maverick...err...Hotplate!  After much delay, here is the money shot.

Here is my dinky eel, I'm used to it I guess  :smt044

And one of my legal cabbies!

When I got back in my truck on the way home I saw a missed call from SuperD270 talking about crabbing today.  I hope you did well out there today Kuya.  Sorry I didnt return your call, I was so tired after I got all my stuff squared away yesterday!  Take care everyone.
