They JUST opened that parking lot up a few years ago!

This will lead to more people trespassing and launching from other locations.

Wow, unfreaking-believable!  It's very funny (to say it in a "nice" way) to see how government/politics works. I dunno if this is part of the State's efforts to curb/cut the RDA budget. Either way, NOT COOL!!

Stone Lock District (GPA 08-02 & REZ 08-02)- This is an application for a General Plan Amendment and Rezone of approximately 200 acres of City-owned property located in the northeast and northwest villages of Southport.  The project also includes amendments to the Southport Framework Plan.  The project is located primarily south of the Barge Canal, east and west of Jefferson Boulevard.  The Stone Lock District also includes approximately 20 acres of land located north of the Barge Canal (the Bluff District) which is not included in the entitlement applications listed here.  The concept plan would divide the project site into four distinct but interconnected urban districts (the Park District, the Bluff District, the Canal District, and the Barge District).  The project would be a mixed use project which would include up to 2,500 residential units, up to 800 hotel rooms, up to 890,000 square feet of retail space and up to 1.7 million square feet of office space.  The project would also include 60 acres of parks/open space.  .
