Hey All,

This is my first report and it's land based. I'm hoping that comes to an end soon: Finally have access to a yak, now I just need all the "stuff" to get out in it.

As the report date indicates, I was out last sunday. We'd been in a "good" cold spell for more than 5 days. The water temp had dropped to a cool 49 to 50 and the air temp warmed to a nice 62, on a sunny day, with winds in the 5 to 10 mph.
I figured, that I'd let the day's sun warm the water a little before walking out into the mudflats in search of fish. It was a little after 10am before I made the first cast, throwing a live mudsucker on a barbless circle, with a sliding set up. It wan't too long before the first fish came along. Then, it shut down.
After walking for hours, the sun set; the air temp dropped big-time,,,,and,,,,,here's where it gets crazy: The bite came on!!!???? What? All day, I couldn't entice sheeeet, but now that I'm down to my last couple of muddies and the weather is painfully cold,,,,now they want to play...??? Yup, yup. With the last couple, a friend and I managed 4 to hand and a couple of missed hits. Crazy fish that's why I love 'em.

I got pics, just haven't tried to post 'em on this sight yet.

I bet at a hookup, the participants can show up with their extra gear to use for the day so u don't have to wait. Go minimal, with safety in mind- less stuff to lose.  ;-)

Peace, y'all

WTTM- Nice stripes bro
Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

Thanks All,

As I threw on my rain gear yesterday to hit some stripers, I wondered, and this is a question, "Couldn't I just wear my cover all slickers, instead of waders? After watching a bunch of vids, I'm not worried about the waders with a belt, but it'd be kinda bulky with all the other clothing for nightime fishing?"
Went 4 for 6 on take downs yesterday, fish to 24". They're happy about the no freezing nights and spring is just around the corner. It's gonna be an epic year!!! knocking on my head.
