Walked through a vineyard to one of my favorite spots across the river from dry creek. Looked great one pull down but no fish. Lot of people on other side of river and drift boats. Saw one small fish 5lb caught. Couldn't fiqure why it was so slow until I saw mooch taking his free diving class. That spooks all the fish up into the willows.Tried to scare him off to no avail so we left.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

Harbor seal...there were 5 of them in that hole on Weds.  Whacky!  Also saw one by the Healdsburg fishladder.

I heard there was one at the bottom of the fish ladder leading to the Hatchery up dry creek on Thursday. That's a long way from the ocean, seems like a lot of effort to get a meal.

WOW! I can't believe a seal made it that far into the river.

That seal better watch out. Some hillbilly from Cazadero might not like it in the river chasing steelies...lol.

No offense to any hillbillies, BTW.  :smt003

A couple of years ago we found 2 dead 1 was shot in the chest with just a hole, the other was shot in the ear and the exit wound was nasty. 1 at Dry Creek the other was above Healdsburg.

Yeah , it was nice talking with you mike, thanks for the info..  I ended up there about 3 pm on Sat. There was a bunch of people fishing the mouth, so we hiked down to a sand bar and fished with spinners and bumped roe..  The rain was pouring , but the river stayed a nice green blue color and so im sure it didnt matter.  Stayed till dark, nothing, but im going back no doubt.   .. I was fishing the Mccloud last year when an otter came flying up from the depths! Scared the shat out of me to say the least! haha..  bastards! .

Dustin did you work for Randy Neumen?
I used to sneak in there to fish their trout pond.

Nice place.  Although last time I ate there (last summer) the food needed some help.  The new owner was nice enough.  He even helped himself to a glass of wine, from the bottle we bought!  But then again, he popped another bottle open and poured us some glass because he wanted us to try it.

Looks like I'll be up in Caz next weekend.  Might have to bring the steelhead gear and hit the river.  Or perhaps you can point me in the direction of a "Rock Hopper" spot?

Yeah, I worked for Randy.

My uncle used to be married to Randy's daughter.

I hated those trout so much. I used to have to clean them outside when it was freezing cold. Or sometimes I'd have a huge pile of dishes waiting for me, but I'd be outside trying to help some moron catch a fish that would basically hit a bare hook.

Allen - I'm a 95% Saltwater guy, so I don't have any river spots. I might be interested in drifting the river on Sunday, though, if it pans out and I'm not too wiped out from sturgeon on Saturday.

I need a steelie for the pool, and I have no idea how to catch one....so I'd love to get out there and get some pointers!  :smt003
