whats up fella's,
so me and my cousin hit stillwater yesterday for a bit of spearfishing.  we got out in the water about 9:30 and it was beautiful.  FAC and no wind.  we cruised around and I showed cousin justin, what he was looking for and the general stuff before the hunt began.  After about 30 minutes or so the wind picked up but not too bad.  while swimming around i definitely found some really good and saw some really nice fish but they were on the move, almost skiddish.  we ended up with some nice rockies a greenling and nice cabbie.  but here is where the real fun begins.  the other day when i was out there i found this really cool treasure but didnt grab it becuase i did not have the means to transport it.  so today i went looking for it again and found it.  in all its rusted out glory this beautiful samurai sword chilling at the bottom of pebble beach, who knew.  anyways we headed back home for some fried fish and beer.  the dogs even got in on the action. they spilt a coors and had a few pieces of fish.  shellback and whoever else- friday "its going down" until next time

So cool you got to take your cousin out to explore in the ocean, bring home some food AND a crazy treasure!!

Dude...I know where to get you some buddhist burial urns at the bottom of the ocean to go along with your cursed samurai sword..then you will have a great start to your collection of crazy underwater artifacts!!!!!

Congrats on a great day and thanks for sharing the cool report and pics!

Looking forward to diving with you again soon!

I saw that sword last time, too! It was in ~5 feet of water by that cave on the island. I was hoping it was a speargun, so I left it when I saw that it wasn't. It was kind of creepy finding it.

The urns aren't in the same area and I would never touch them personally, even though I heard the monks don't mind since after the ritual they hold no more significance...supposedly.

Still....I wouldn't want to risk any possible bad juj-ju for a ceramic urn!!

 :smt009 :smt010

But for a cool sword...hellz yes!!

 :smt005  :smt002

Sincerely,

Jim

ps...GREAT idea of having the sword go to the person who gets the biggest ling (by spear or hook and line) every May 1st!!

Oh yeah, wait, it's not my sword!  :smt002 :smt005 :smt005 :smt005 :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

Way too cool, I might have to buy my own urn to place at sws, so I can wait for something to take occupancy and shoot it.

alameda, i will post up a close up shot of it in a bit but it says "CHINA" on the blade.  i dont think its anything legit.  and i am totally up for putting it up for trophy material.  Shellback gave me a great idea.  Put a clear coat on it like it is, and that way it will protect the current rust, but keep it from rusting any further and then each person who wins the trophy every year can engrave there name on it somewhere on the blade.  big jim.  i will pass on the urns
