Sounds like another stellar day OTW for the Ocean Kayak Pro Staff Fishing Team!

 :smt006

Add me to the list Mike - I have forgotten seat, paddle, GPS - once each! Camera battery - three times.

Speaking of camera batteries. The big cat that Bird caught on New Years Eve?  :smt006 :smt044   Hey we have 3 now!

Yep, forgot the camera battery on the New Years Eve 2010 trip.  Glad you had your camera Craig or I might have had to keep and eat that big CL cat!     :smt009

One time I was 100 miles from home, in Williams, on my way to CL. It was 10PM and I was starving. Pondering whether I would hit McDonalds or Jack in the Box (maybe it was Carl's Jr.) and what exactly it was that I was hungry for the cost of the meal popped into my head.
I have no idea why, it just did. Then where the money was going to come from (my wallet), then where did I put my wallet?
Panic set in as I searched everywhere in my vehicle.
I called the GF and her first words were..I am so sorry. It's on the dresser.
I had to turn around and bail on the trip.
Good thing I had a full tank of gas.

I remember that trip Mike.  I believe you posted it.  Either that or I heard it second hand.

Yup, we've all forgotten bits and pieces, sometimes important ones...like my paddle :smt011

I'm not anal enough to have a written, detailed list of my gear. But I have a mental checklist, using a mnemonic:

HELP...

H:   head to toe attire. I imagine everything I'm going to wear. Always have an extra base layer and a beanie tucked away for weather colder than I expected. Includes sunglasses and sunscreen.

E:   Electronics, to include fish finder, battery, radio, cell phone, camera.

L:   Lunch, including water, maybe just a snack, maybe a samitch.

P:   A few P's- Paddle, PFD, and Plano...which means tackle box, but also all tackle, including rods and reels, gaff, fish gripper, etc. License always lives in the PFD, so I can't forget that.

Lately, I've been in the habit of cleaning my fish in the field. So I have a cooler, cutting board, zip locks, and fillet knife in my truck. Clean fish on the beach, and just donate the carcass to the crabs. It's really nice to arrive home with that already done!

Always willing to join others in the Monterey/Santa Cruz/Half Moon Bay area for a bit of fishing...feel free to contact me.

Of course I've forgotten gear, and continue to do so, but now it is stuff that I like to have with me, not a must-have. I've learned what not to forget.
I once went to the Smith River with my pram... and no oars.
I once left in a hurry to Clear Lake... no rods.
Out to the coast... no license.
Last year I got up very early, paddled near an hour in the dark to a hunting spot, I get there and there's great sign everywhere! I forgot my bow release.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

I've forgotten things but only been kept off the water once, when I forgot my paddle pants at Rockaway.

I've forgotten my tackle and still gone out with what I found rattling around in the truck.  There's always a Kastmaster or a jig or two in the bed, etc.

Gone out for a full day with no seat, or electronics plenty of times.

The last three times I've gone out with kevin, i've forgotten something or he's forgotten something, including but not limited to, seats, reels, poles, etc.  Good (bad) thing we're both pretty busy and our schedules hardly ever synch up  :smt044

Should be a thread about times I have forgotten something and and been gifted or loaned by a fellow NCKA'er...

Too many to count!

I have gotten all the way out to the launch a few times without something I meant to bring.   Hit FR once last summer without my fish clip or even my backup stringer but Rockroach bailed me out with a spare clip!

On halloween this year I managed to leave home without my FF.. met up with Dr. habanero  who didn't have one on his boat either.. turned out to be my best yakfishing day ever.. so who knows! :)

perhaps the question should have been-- have you ever remembered everything?

I'm pretty sure this has never happened to me...
