The main difference between NCKA and most other forums is that kayak fishing can be dangerous. You need to be able to rely on your fishing partners. This forms a bond that is much stronger than anybody could ever form in some online gaming forum or even in forums for other types of fishing. We depend on each other...we help each other...it makes us family.

WHO THE HELL DO YOU FISH WITH?????????????..........  :smt044 :smt009

When I first joined, I felt like I had nothing to contribute, and that I was more of a leach than a member  :smt002  Because of all the great and useful info, and my complete and utter lack of knowledge, it made me a bit timid when it came to posting.  But then I figured out that there is no better way to contribute to the site than to post reports showing the results from the my new found knowledge this board had given me  :smt003  Then the hookups started flowing, the fishing got better and better, more and more friends to fish with, and I cannot fathom leaving the comradery this site has shown me!   :smt004

MORE HOOKUPS AND COWBELL IN 2011!!!

You guys have me all worked up now...  Well said, Al, and from the heart.

I, too, cannot imagine what I did or who I hung out with before NCKA.  It changed my life for the better in so many ways not even related to fishing.  So many tight friendships.  So much knowledge shared freely.  In turn all these things have made me a better man.  Kayaking builds character.

+1.  Yeah, I was so timid, that I think my number of posts for the first year was in the single digits. :smt011

I think having kids take some members away, others get a little bit of burnout, others have new or greater responsibilities at work, etc.

Like one guy mentioned about our fearless leader...he's still around but less active since he does have kids, a job, photography and skateboarding as a hobby!  Hopefully we can see him at the AOTY ceremony though!
