Looking for recommendations for a small baitcaster to use for trout trolling. Will be using 8# fluoro and would like to have a clicker.

Calcutta 50 would be my choice, small enough for trout and tough enough to do double duty on the salt.  Very fun for lite tackle rockies.  Not sure if they have a clicker though.

I use a Daiwa Millionaire Classic on my koke/trout rod. Works like a charm (has a clicker) and only ran me about $50 new

Tica, Caiman or abu "kokanee special" from FW.  Both have clickers, both quality reels.---Jeff

The Abu Kokanee Special is basically an Abu 4600 C3 with a clicker. I use an Abu 4601 C3 for trout trolling and love it. There are places that will sell a clicker conversion kit for about $10, or if you have an old Abu laying around with a clicker, the clicker side plate from any sized Abu C3 will fit (except for the big 7000 series).

Thanks guys. Decided to go with the Abu Kokanee Special. It is a perfect match for the St Croix 2C76LM I will be building. I have been using my spinning rods but got tired of the line twist issues.

Good choice Scott, I've got a couple of them paired with some noodle ultra light trolling rods and love them.  I've landed freshwater stripers on them with ease.

I've also got a couple of the Daiwa Sealine SG17LCA reels paired with Shimano Convergence medium light 7' rods that are used for trolling flashers and dodgers.  These are a little bit bigger than the Kokanee Special but I like the line counter component.

I use the old style Shimano 100 super light great reels, Scott what do you need a clicker for doesn't Molly watch you rods Mick would always start barking when a rod went off.

great choice, I have had 5 of the reels for years.  the only problem I have had is the little cover on the reel handle, the screws loosen and fall out which lets the cover fall off.  I took all the screws off and added a bit of locktight to them.
