Met up with FishMaster1, BloodBath, Lorenzo, Chaeki and two of their buddies.

BEAUTIFUL day and decent water...not TOO surgy, manageable swells, and 15 foot viz or so.

Was my first time diving at this spot so took me awhile to explore around and find some good structure/hunting grounds...even then most of the fish I found were hunkered WAY back in their holes!!

Felt great to be in the water, trying out my new gun and exploring a new spot!!

Missed some tough shots, and a gimme shot at a nice MFPB, but ended the morning with a small Black and Yellow and a chunky monkey kelpie.

Managed to get out of the water without looking too stupid...good thing cuz Andy had the camera out waiting to add to his "BigJim is a clumsy f*cker" collection on YouTube!!
 :smt005  :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

Andy, Zo and I each had identical twin 15 inch RF at the end of the day!!  :smt005

Saw BMB out on the rocks shorefishing and Alameda getting ready to get wet...hope you guys did well!!  :smt001

Good times with great folks in a beautiful location!!

Sincerely,

Jim

Can't beat fresh fish for dinner.  Thanks for the report and pictures Jim.

I got there around 7:50am and met up with the crew.  I had heesup with me (newbie freediver)  He wanted me to spend time with him and teach him the basic's because he was feeling bad, that every time I would go up to the north coast for abalone, he would be at my house with his family waiting to eat.. LOLOLOL

Alittle background on Heesup, when he was young, he had 2 drowning experiences, so he had a major phobia about being in the water.  His wife didn't think he would ever go back into the water.  But he was determined to get over it, because his wife loves seafood (abalone, urchin, fish), and his daughter always wants to play with my son, and I am always at Monterey in the ocean on the kayak.  HAHAHAHA,  I promised him that I would teach him the basics of what I knew, since I was now comfortable in the ocean nowadays.

I spent my day focused on him trying to reach the bottom, here is the video clip of him:

After he was satisfied and chummed the water alittle bit, I swam around to shoot fish, but by that time I was already tired and got out of the water.

The wife's called and said that they were on the way to Monterey to enjoy the weather, so we all ended up at the Aquarium and Macabee beach.

It was a awesome day.

Looks like a good time fellas.  I'd say Heesup has been getting over his phobia pretty quickly...Crabbing off a kayak at night, now swimming in the ocean.  He will be popping Abs come April no doubt.  I've seen abs in 3 feet of water. Thats great that hes got a friend like you to show him the ropes.  One of these days when we camp out together and are sitting around the camp fire I'm going to tell you my first Ab diving experience.  Its a good one.  Dude! I've got to get me a Banks Board!  I'm gonna start mowing lawns or washing cars or something!  I like how on the website it has the Chaeki quote of approval!  :smt044
