FYI Crabs on leave

No this isn't another one of my navy stories. I heard from a well seasoned commercial crab fisherman that most of the crabs are out deep mating for another five weeks out of six total. He said that they wouldn't grab a piece of bait if you set it right in front of them.

LMAO! If the crabs are gone it sounds like a good time to soak some bait for some early sharks or rays!

So crabbing will be decent again in March?  Thanks for the inside scoop.

now you tell me, just got back from doran, this morning, only had four legal dungies for a 20 hour soak, but a whole mess of rock that are now becoming bisque, cameron

They are deep 150ft, from a friend that pulled two pots yesterday and 40 dungies.

...Crabs, and a 5-6 week long gestation period? Sure sounds like a Navy story to me.
