Found some great deals on Hobie Mirage Kayaks and it almost sounds too good to be true... No tax, Shipping, Low price, and discount on accessories...

"- Free shipping in the continental U.S. on all 06’ Hobie Mirage Kayaks* Plus 10% off Sportsman Package on Hobie Outback, Outfitter, Adventure & Sport"

http://www.theoutsideworld.net/boats.php?f=y

The Adventure is only 1699.00... Outstanding, IMHO.

If I'm not mistaken $1,1699 is the price of the paddling version of the Adventure.
you  should definitely check the  local prices. It does sound to good to be true.
Why Do I paddle a kayak instead of a float tube or a pontoon boat? I like seeing where I'm going not where I've been!
Paddle safe and wrap'em tight.

$1699 is the standard price for the Hobie Adventure.  You can order one with the fishing package from KFS in New Jersey for $1819, which is the standard price of $1699 plus $120 for the fishing package.  KFS only sells them with the fishing package, which means your color choices are:  orange, green, or sand.  They will ship it to your house for FREE and there is no sales tax.  Paying for the fishing package which you may or may not want is still cheaper than paying sales tax anywhere in California.

Isn't it amazing how you can buy a kayak made in California from a store in New Jersey (shipped across country twice) cheaper than anyplace in California.

I will be ordering mine in the next couple of weeks.

I'm all for using the Internet for bargains.  For a big item like a kayak, it might be worth the added expense to purchase locally.  Less hassle should there be any problem with the boat or in transit (I'm sure it ships insured, but what a pain if it is damaged).

Kayak Connection does a good job standing behind the products they sell.  Mark (the owner) got me a replacement cover for may Tarpon when it flew off my yak.  In the past they would also provide a discount on accessories purchased with the boat (PFD, paddle, dry bag).

I'm not affiliated with KC in any way.  Just though I'd share my thoughts on the subject.

I look forward to reading your review when you do pick up the Adventure.

Kevin

No matter where you get your yak, Kevins advice is good advice.  Getting a boat shipped can be a SERIOUS pita. When it all goes great, its great.  But when the gorillas at the shipping Co. mess up your boat (and we have seen this numerous time) getting it repacked and returned is a real pain.  We still ship boats, but I try and avoid it whenever possible.

If you live near Santa Rosa Wind toys (707-542-7245) is a good place to go. They have a good inventory on kayaks in general and have always had the hobie's in stock.Ive had my Hobie outback for two years now and I love it.

Sean is being quiet here, but I won't be. Sean owns Great white kayak company and has sold many yaks to members of this site. If you are in Ca. and looking for a yak he should be your first call or PM.
