I'm going to buy a Ray Odor polespear, but I'm not sure if I should get the 3-piece 6' spear, or the 1-piece 6' spear. I'm not sure which would really be better. Ray Odor says they're essentially the same, except the 3-piece is easier to transport. Besides travel, are there any other advantages or disadvantages the 3-piece would have over the 1-piece? Thanks

The breakdown is nice for the kayak.

There are pros and cons for both though.  The three piece kinda becomes unscrewed/loose as you go.  I always check mine after I shoot or after swimming around for a while.  The three piece can be shortend down to a 4' pole if you need it to be.  Teflon tape on the threads of the three piece will help with it unscrewing, help, not stop it.  I like my three piece, its nice to have the option to store it.  But if storage and the option to shorten it to a 4' pole doesnt interest you, then go with the one piece.  I always keep mine as a 6' pole and then break it down and throw it into a giant plastic tub with the rest of my dive gear after I'm done.  For me, I like the 3 piece.  I hope this helps buddy.

Thanks for the quick replies. I will probably end up getting the 3-piece then, always good to have the option of modifying it if I need to, for bad viz or hard to reach holes.

Definitely the the three piece bro.  The ability to shorten it to a 4 footer in poor vis surmounts any cons.

Get the 3-piece pole.  If later on you want a 1 piece just super glue them together  :smt003
