kz, what's "waf?"

Congratulations Alan... nice purchase.

WAF stands for Wife Approval Factor (do a search of the archives for more about WAF)... you must have a friggin' TON of that stuff!

Alan, I'll make you a deal.  I'll take you out on your FIRST KAYAK FISHING TRIP and you can take me on my first kayak albie trip.

Seriously, when are we going to get you out on a yak?

i, um, actually told my wife that evening.... :smt005 :smt005 :smt005 :smt005 :smt005

no, seriously, i did!  she knew that i had been looking, so it was not that much of a surprise.  plus, we've always had three checking accounts, her's, mine and our's.   :smt011 :smt011 :smt011 :smt011 :smt011

funny thing.  there seemed to be a little extra banging of cupboard doors, drawers, plates, bowls and utensils.   i seem to remember the knives being put away very quietly.......

go diesel on the tow vehicle. in CA the economics are marginal but it's nice to have that
torque while towing not to mention the range on the tank of fuel (due to more mpg).

I drive a 1996 cummins turbo diesel (last of the 12 valve models) and I love that thing.

Awesome boat Alan.  Skip the V10 Excursion.  We had one to out offroad vehicles and it was not a good vehicle.  It actually towed fantastic, but it was not very reliable for a new vehicle...it ate a front wheel bearing on one trip at around 25k and then the EGR crap out on another trip at around 35k...it went bye bye right after that.

Ford deisels are excellent, but given my choice I'd have to agree that Cummins Dodge at the WTG...awesome!

polepole and I were discussing a tuna trip with Greg, of team "Jammey Fackers," on BATC last year.  (Was that your guest post, Allen?)  Maybe "Qualifier" Rob and some other PBers might be willing to form a fleet of yak haulers and we could make a real trip out of it. yakers get dropped off and and PBers troll around.

Alan,

In order to insure that you don't scratch your nice new boat with the kayaks, I think you should consider only taking smaller kayaks like OK Capers and Cobra navigators  :smt002.  These boats are small and light enough that they could be wrapped in a packing blanket out of the way on your deck and lowered over the side with ease.

Oh, and it wouldn't hurt to take a marine scientist out with you to help interpret sea surface temperature plots. :smt003

Who am I kidding, I'd never earn enough WAF these days to go on a trip like that.   Congrats on the new boat .. I am so jealous.
