I was thinking about giving it a try to test it out. Only thing I have caught outa there are shad, striper, and sucker fish. Time to see if I can catch a steelie. If so whats the best access for this higher water? I have always been addicted to rossmoor.

Try the drifts up by upper Sunrise between Red Bridge and Salior Bar on the Gold River side.

Rossmoor always pays out huge dividends when you put your time in.  I'm a big fan of drifting nightcrawlers with a pink power egg.  The pink work works great too when drifting under a bobber.  Fish it when it's nice and murky, the fish like to hug the banks, takes the guess work out of finding them.  Hell, if I'm not too tired from fishing the port on Sat I might make it out on Sunday.

I might join you for a morning session if I can convince the wife I need to fish 2 days in a row!

Ive always been interested about doing the drift through sailor bar area, but i was wondering if you would piss off the bankies that way.  I've never tried it but I know its a pretty busy spot for the fly guys.

I have always had great luck in the spring and summer months on the north fork near Yankee Jims.  I usually throw out larger panther martins near the banks.  Last year I only made a few casts and came out with two big 16" natives (only kept one cuz I was hungry).  Here is my favorite whitewater site, it describes the directions well; http://www.cacreeks.com/amer-nlo.htm
