when I went to register a boat I bought, the boat was no problem. I had a title signed by the previous owner. the trailer was another matter. There was no title to it hence signed title transfer. The registration was to a previous owner who I can't find anywhere. The trailer has a pti plate and it has not been a issue but I see how it could be as in your situation. See if the CF sticker is current or at least from2010. If it isn't see if it was ever renewed since you sold it. If it wasn't go get your boat with a couple of friends to be witnesses in case someone confronts you. Safety in numbers. Park it at a buddies house so it can"t be found if someone looks for it. Get the registration and fees taken care of. Then sell it again and make a little dough. If the guy has registered the boat but not the trailer, leave the boat on the street and take the trailer. The trailer is still yours

Call me. Maybe a threatening letter on my letterhead can bring this to a resolution.

I noticed  they have their RV blocking the hitch to the boat... Theft protection..

That boat is so HEAVY, there no pushing that thing off, part of the reason I sold it... Yeah the whole PTI thing on trailers is weird.

John, Ill call you tomorrow ok? I have a sick kid here to care for... I like this idea...

KGO TV, 7 On Your Side, Michael Finney

http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/channel?section=news/7_on_your_side&id=7109212

+1 on Howard's suggestion.  Michael Finney is nails and always gets thing solved.  The only problem is that I'm sure he has many people writing in to him for help.

Not to mention that you would get to bring light to a messed up DMV situation and get your situation straightened out.

From an outside/legal perspective: either he paid you 3K and it's his boat OR he didn't pay and it's your boat. It can't be both. Right?
So it seems like we need to locate the guy, and tell him to pay his tickets OR you're taking your boat back (in which case, you can park it at my house (~: )

Oh, and I don't know if we get KGO 7 here. Might have to try one of the local stations if you want to go that route. Like Marc Cota-Robles on KION: http://www.kionrightnow.com/Global/category.asp?C=152355

Boat is heavy? How heavy? I can bring some stick powder over and set a charge that will bounce it off the trailer! haha. One thing you can do, is if he has reg'd the boat, but not the trailer, and will not work with you, we can show up NCKA style and dismantle the trailer for you. Fishmaster1 can bring his oxygen/acetylene, and we can begin working on it. Any idea how bad that would suck for that dude, to sit and watch his boat's trailer get chopped? He would be totally screwed. 1. How the hell do you get it back up on another trailer. 2. How much does another trailer cost. 3. what is the going rate for a crane to come pick this thing and re-set onto the new trailer I just had to buy? 4. Knowing you got justice.....priceless!
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

Any plans that include explosion should automatically go to the top of the list....but far simpler to unstrap the boat, back the boat up to that tree in the pics, take a tow strap and tie off a cleat then walk around the tree and tie off on the other stern clean......then drive away....you are happy, boat owner is sad.  game over  :smt001

Why don't you stand on the sidewalk in front of his house?  I'll call the cops and say there is a creepy man standing on the sidewalk and to please send a cop car to check it out.  You wanted the cops there.  Voila!!!

Lets just all go there as a group... 50+ NCKA members surround the boat... I am sure that would get the attention of the news channel, police, and neighbors.  Then explain to them the situation, LOL
