This is a short post for a long day.
4:00 - out of bed
5:20 - Adam and "Cowboy Jim" arrive
6:00 - boats transferred, fueled up and on the road
8:30 - in Bodega Bay
9:00 - watch windy conditions with Local NCKA crew (lucky bastards...)
9:30 - set 2 pots

2:00 - pull pots for 2 rocks
3:00 - pull pots for 1 dungie
4:30 - pull 2 more dungies
5:30 - chased out by warden...oops
12:15 - sleep

in short, met some great guys, caught some crab, chilled all day on the beach in stunning CA weather and ate crab before bed  :)

how nice was it?  it was windyish in the am (see pic) but glass by 1:00
outside, the conditions matched NOAA to a T, 6-8', 14sec.... made for some awesome waves on Seal Rock!

thx for sharing.  When I was out there last, guys were doing better in shallow waters than deeper. Glad you had a great outing.

My friend Jr. was out there earlier this week and he said he had to cull through 30 undersize before he got 10 keepers. He had his pots in fairly close also. I think it is good to have your pots in the water for high tide also. Thanks for the report rockfish. I am glad you got to end your day with a crab dinner.

It actually is the ranger who is sposed to lock the day use gates at 5pm. If there are cars still in the parking lot, they have to wait to lock-up so nobody gets locked in.

Thanks for driving Jim!  We had a fantastic time.  Cowboy Jim called me the next day and was still amped about his first crabbing trip.  hopefully we can get at least one more fishing trip in before your ankle surgery.

Thanks for the report and pics.  We're gonna try it tomorrow.  Last time out, the shallow water was more productive than the deep. I guess we'll try both tomorrow and see what works best and report back.
