I'm thinking of heading up to southeast Alaska this summer to fish from the kayak.  I've been on-line looking for outfitters as one option and considering taking my own kayak.  If I take my own kayak I would get around from port to port by ferry boat, and fish the areas around the ports like Petersburg,Ketchican and Wrangell.  Anyone been up there on a trip like this?

I'm thinking August when the coho are in close.

Of course we have a couple of trips planned out of Ketchikan ... http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,27415.0.html

The 2 trips are listed as full but there is the possibility we open up some more spaces if there is interest.  If these don't interest you, you can still talk to Howard as he is a wealth of info on the Ketchikan area.

Allen,  Thanks for the reply and info.  I'm new to this group and don't know Howard, any ideas on how to contact him?  The link you posted is one that I looked while scanning the web.  Great pictures, where's the rain?
