My river anchor set up which still allows full function of the rudder.........................

In the last picture you'll see one of the screws I broke off the "guide" that holds the rope from coming off the pulley. That error is now part of the design as if the rope laps over the pulley or becomes knotted it simply pulls the guide to one side and releases the whole rope...

Misc ...

Ram tubes...side mount. They are set far enough back to stay out of the way of paddling...

Ocean Kayak front hatch straps. These work great in surf launches/landings yet tuck in to the front well when not needed. Great for tucking your mirage fins under the straps when launching and landing as well

Very nice setup O2B!  Your post is perfect timing!  I really like the rod balancer!  That is awesome, that would make a nice rest for rigging rods as well.  The hatch strap is a great idea, I am not sure on the strength of the bungies for surf launching and landing.

With the ram mounts behind your seat, are they easy to watch while trolling?  I do alot of trout trolling which is why I am thinking of at least one front rocket launcher mount on my adventure.  i do like how you have everything out of the way though, very nice.

Thanks!

I 2nd the front hatch strap. I did mine like Tote. I can remove it (attaches with clips and pad eyes) it saved the day in MB when I boated two WSB. Was able to relocate the strap to the tank well to hold the fish down.

Quick question - How did you secure the hatch straps in place?

Will you rig your 1st place prize the same way? :smt002

What might you do differently, if anything?

Hi Allan,

Did you install any reinforcing behind the ball mounts?

Thanks,

Ben

Yup, pretty thick plastic from a truck tool tray. The plastic even has raised square gussets of sorts. Find yourself a tall lanky kid to help as lots of fun was had lining up all the holes and installing big washers and nylox nuts all while avoiding the control cables. Do yourself a favor and do not use the all plastic ram balls so WHEN not if those fail you don't have to do it all again....use the metal base. I will see if I can dig up a picture of the backing plate but they are roughly six by ten inches.

So how did you attach the straps for the pedals for surf launches?  I only see the outside view.

hmmm, not sure what you are asking  .... but if it's where I store the fins during landings/launches?   I slip the bottom ends of the fins under the OK strap but they are not secured other than the usual leash. ? ??
