Eric, just wanna let you know that the check is finally in the mail.  I'm sorry for sending it out last minute, but I can't wait to be a part of this madness!! :D
Glad to hear it, Daniel.  I've actually got you penciled in with good odds as a favorite in the competition!  Big Jim can tell you how Rookie of the Year type vibes can work in your favor.  Do you happen to paddle a "Big Yak"?...   :smt003
Not a BigYak, but he's paddling my old Trident. which it turns out, had a lot of untapped mojo in it. Within a few months of buying the yak, he had already caught a handful of fish that were better than anything I've caught in 6yrs LOL! Damn noobs hahaha!

Martin, those look so cool! I need to get 1, please.
But...[grammar police nerd alert]...is there a typo? shout vs shot. Although shot m/b better anyways!

Eric I'm sending my waiver & money today fer realz! The envelope has been sitting in my desk at work for over a month now D'OH! And I'm not sure about the safety boat. If I can convince my dad to tow it back over the hill, we'll have it. But if he doesn't want to tow it...I sure as heck ain't gonna do it = my truck sucks.   I just gotta keep telling him stories about the epic salmon bite that awaits!

I will be on a hobie kona tandem, and will have plenty of room if anybody needs help. A life is worth a lot more than any of the crap I will have on my deck.

Martin, I'm also interested in one of those home brews. What do I have to do to earn one of those? :D

The quoted lyric on the bottle is an abbreviation of "war, it's just a shot away" from the Rolling Stones Gimme Shelter.  I checked the lyrics to be sure before I made the labels.  I have 46 bottles, so there should be enough to go around for those who want one.  I thought the line was "shout away" too but it's "shot".

Waiting for the good folks at The Oceanfront Inn to get back to me.

If they have openings for the 13th, 14th, and 15th then I'm in.

Right on, Dustin.  I think there are a few more inns at the north end that likely still have rooms too.

As for the safety boat, Pat, no problem - looks like we'll have a smaller number of paddlers than I thought going in, and that lends to an overall safer event I'd say.  We'll have a very high percentage of ocean experienced and very conscientious friends out there, and the team requirement is an important part of assuring that we don't have any incidents where someone gets in trouble because of being solo.  If you can convince your Pop to bring the PB though, do it!!!  I predict a good number of legal salmon...   :smt001

Daniel - thanks for reading the thread - well done!  The net proceeds from the extra shirt and hoodie orders (that is, over and above the shirts that come with registration) will be presented to Jim for Team Shicken/Mooch.  Pat - you still making that prop we were talking about?!  Also, there will be some net from the registrations since all prizes including the Grand Prize yak are donated this year, so I'll use part of the registration net for raffles, and part of it will also go into the check for Team Shicken/Mooch.

This thing's coming closer!    :smt001 :smt001 :smt001

Now where's that countdown, Sonny??   :smt003

The campground owner has set aside a group area where you can have your truck, boats, trailer...etc. and he's proposing $20/night per head no matter how much gear you have.  You can get a better deal reserving a spot outside the group area with others, but the space in one campsite is quite limited, and there are extra charges for the second vehicle, trailers...etc.

I hope you make it up.   :smt001

So, from Jack's POV (owner of the campground), 2 or 3 people with vehicles and kayaks are taking up more than one camping spot, and that's likely true in many cases.  I'd advise to either adhere strictly to the rules of having your own spot, or go into the group area, claim your space, enjoy the common space (gear cleaning area, maybe some firewood...), pay the $20/night, and be happy that you're there and contributing to an economy that's been hammered way worse than most others in the past few years due to fishing season and regulation changes.  Shelter Cove is a special place, and the aspects of it that we're there to enjoy will overshadow any concern about the fee - that's why the campsites are so small!   :smt001
