I didn't know their was a stroke belt either....weird.

I like how they're looking for a singular cause though, answer is more than likely a combination of factors associated with lifestyle.

The problem with this that I will focus on is that there are many different methods of frying.  As I've learned it, frying at the proper temp of around 375 to 400 F quickly cooks a patina around the item being deep-fried, so not much oil is absorbed into the meat.  I monitor the amount of oil that is used when I deep-fry, and I feel that not much is consumed if I don't overload the hot oil which cools it.

I'm sure several factors play into the frying itself, including the kind of oil used, how long you fry & how much saturation it gets, and probably most importantly how often you eat fried food -- boring as it may be, moderation is key to LOTS of health stuff.

This last summer my girlfriend and I drove cross country. We drove through the south where we saw large bill boards advertising " Stroke Doctors on call and ready" at local hospitals. Trying to find healthy food there was a challenge.

Ridiculous study. I lived in the south for years. People exercise less, and eat all kinds of bad food besides fried fish.

With biscuits and gravy....

Pisses me off when every few months they say the fish is gonna kill us.  I'm no nutritionalist obviously, but I'd bet money our typical fried fish is healthier than a number meal at McDonalds.

Nothing wrong with eating fried fish.

Possibly  only applies to  deep fried battered fish. I've read  that   over heated oil  contributes to arterial damage. Deteriorated oil causing free radical damage.

I concur....I'd rather eat a fresh caught fried fish than roided out cows that are all hopped on meds.  :smt001
