Bill, Mooch, JSelli, CraigH,SeaBreeze and I met up at 9:00 at Montara Beach for a bit of Perching.  After fortifying ourselves with Pat's homemade cinnamon rolls, we trekked the path to the beach to do battle.  Tossed grubs and shrimp into fairly heavy surf for about 30 minutes for no joy, so we packed up and moved south to Poplar Beach.  Met up with Alien there, and tried again.  No action for another half hour or so, until Bill made sacrifice to the ocean gods.  Almost immediately afterward, Pat hooked up with a 10+ inch BSP, and Mooch followed quickly with another.  The rest of us couldn't buy a perch, but we all enjoyed a  pleasant morning nonetheless.  I don't have the pic of Mooch's but here's Pat with her largest-fish-of-the-day:

Many thanks to Pat for baking some fresh hot cinnamon rolls for us to chow down - GOOOOOD STUFF   :smt023
.....not only did she bake us breakfast but she also found the school of perch  :worship :worship :worship
Bill managed to hook one too -  but lost it on the heavy surf. I'll be definitely hitting this spot when the swells are down. (I only live a few blocks away :kick...just rubbing it in  :smt002)

here's my little monster= 9 1/2 inches....(caught with a MORF)

Forgot to mention: after the luncheon at Ono, some of us took a trip to see the legendary Mavericks reef break. We met a couple of guys (who also happen to kayak fish locally) who were just on their way back from digging some clams from the harbor.......

Perching was fun with good folks but wow, look at those clams..........I need to read those regs now!
Saltwater is the cure for everything that ails us,
sweat, tear or the sea.

Glad to know my sacrifice enabled others to catch a few fish.  :smt003

I was trying to toss out past the breakers and ended up snapping my line, I turned to Jason to laugh at my lameness and the top half of my rod falls off and lands in the outgoing surge, instantly disappearing  :smt013

Jason was kind enough to let me use his rod since he was leaving. I hooked up what felt like a decent perch but it got off in the swell. I hooked up using a cutup Berkley Gulp sandworm.
