BTW, I'm sorry the new rules for 2010 really messed things up for everyone  :smt002  :smt005

I really don't see any of those panfish and catfish experts tearing up the top 10 like everyone feared.

My angling accomplishment for 2010
I was the first ever to post a Crappie in the AOTY and I'm still in the top 10 :smt003

I am always amazed by the brothers here ....a "recent" fishing report netted 205 views and 15 replies in about three days but when it comes to threads like this we (me included) have generated over a hundred views and more replies in a little  more than an hour...hmmmm ...food for thought.

BMB...I will beat you to the punch..

And just to avoid any other antagonists, if you enter a fish on Jan 1, can you please be prepared to have either witness, or a timestamp on an original photo, demonstrating that the fish was caught in 2010.

But I don't have to worry about that, right?

Actually, I usually verify dates and other stuff from the photo's EXIF data.

But what happens if you hook the fish at 11:58 on 12/31 but don't land it until 00:10 on 1/1?

Would this count for the 2010 AOTY or the 2011 AOTY?

what if:

you're in the ocean fishing in big sur and hook up with a 59" pacific halibut which drags you south of the monterey county border, you land it with a gaff but don't have a minimum of an 18" net on board. It spits up a canary rockfish, which spits out a salmon..

can we add an extra half point to sturgeon?

Just for clarification, that would be 11:59pm DECEMBER 31st. Correct?
No...

You have to catch the fish by 11:59 pm December 31st 2010 but you have until 11:59 pm January 1st 2011 to make your last AOTY entry.   In other words you have an extra day to enter your "Hail Mary Fish".

Brian

Last year on New Years Eve I was "camped out" on a moonlit stretch of water until late in the evening. Had I scored trust me I would have broken more than a few speed limits getting to a computer....
OK, given that we have the entire day of Jan 1st to make it to a computer, this seems fair and I too would break camp and head home early just to record some AOTY points  :smt044

John, that's over a twelve minute fight and would be a nice fish ...hope you do just that!

In the last three years (don't know the facts about previous years) a lot of handshakes, PM congratulations, and hugs were given out well before the New Years bells were ringing...hopefully that will be the same this year.

Thanks for the heads up Brian. I fail to see the logic behind these hoarders. Everybody's gonna fish as much as they can anyway irregardless of what xxx's or yyy's is hoarding. Jim

Allen, just figuring how much time it might take if I hit my target crappie.    :smt001
