the mushroom should hold in the mud. just need lots of scope (rope). Thats ussually the issue with anchors pulling

yeah i think your 10lb should be fine, my 8lb is one of those foldable 4 prong doohicky types.  scope and depth of anchoring is important. it gets 40 ft in the channel but i anchor in about 18 because i don't feel as comfortable in deep water.

Good info on the bait shop in Newark!

And Ben, I think Alviso is good since they opened the new launch.  I think there's water even at low tide.  The gate locks at dusk, but a key is available for a modest fee, ($50 a year).

Thanks for breakin down the Dumbarton launch.  Keeping that for future reference.
