Simple question that might keep one out of trouble. When I find myself out without people of experience their maybe a reason why their not there!

The truth is,
If the OG's arent around = no major deal.
If Nobody is around = be cautious.
As Stated many times before = If you show common sense and cautious judgement you will probably enjoy this sport for many years to come.

After fishing mostly solo for a few decades it's hard to see what's so dangerous

Frankly I miss the days when you could launch anywhere on the coast and never see another soul

Never fish the ocean without a wingman. If you with inexperienced and are Ok with it, dont go past their capabilities. Someone went out last week at Big River right? Thought he was some bad ass jock thrillseeker. Hes dead. You who gets to pick up the pieces? Right, his family. If you think its good advice to go out alone........................................................ :smt006

Thanks for the great analogy Frank. Darwin rules are always in effect.

It is a damn shame about that guy at mendo bay. It sounds like he might not have exercised common sense and good judgement.

If you are confident in your own abilities to take care of yourself, then go out solo.

If you are not confident in your own abilities to take care of yourself, then you should NOT be out there, solo or with a group.

I go out with others, not because I rely on them for my own safety, but because I enjoy their company.  And most of the time we're not within range of each other that we can effectively help each other if needed.  Don't get me wrong, if something goes bad I'll be there for you.

-Allen

"A venturesome minority will always be eager to get off on their own, and no obstacle should be placed in their path; let them take risk, for God sake, let them get lost, sun burnt, stranded, drowned, eaten by bears, buried alive under avalanches-that is the right and privilege of any free American."

something happened to my original post. I'll give you guys the summary. If you find yourself waiting around for an
O.G. to hold your hand, then you are probably wasting good fishing time. They don't even exsist. Use your own common sense and good judgement on the water. Don't be afraid to turn around and drive home if conditions look sketchy.

Whats an OG? Old Guy? Kiddin.

Im new to the kayak thing. And only being in the ocean 3 times on it now and I have seen how unpredictable and sneeky it is. Its just strait up dangerous to call a spade a spade.

If you have no common sense I think the ocean is just going to kill you... and thats; that.
