I'll try to be there by Sunday at 8:00  ,Mooch said that he will come and hang out.  :headbang: I am replacing my mesh bags that came with the promar traps...with a scotty jar.. much smaller slits for the crabs to eat=longer soak time.. so I will just drop pots then head in an chill   :beer3 :sleepy2:   for most of the day. then go out and see what I got..  I want to try doing a longer soak. I did okay today although I only soaked 20 mins max (x2) I got 4 lg rocks and 2 keeper dungees... thew back nearly a doz that were 1/4" too small  :BangHead:..and thanks to golfish for the extra he got.....  ohh and park in the lot above hmbk. not the lot next to hmbk... :smt023   and remember.... safety first.!!:-) Jeff

Jeff, thanks for that report brother. I'm looking to go out Monday night, as that is the only time I have that week to do any kind of fishing/crabbing. Hopefully, I can soak it longer to get my limit this time around :D

Everyone, have fun together tomorrow and good success to all!! :D

I'll be out there tomorrow. Got busy today and had to miss out. I hope the wind and swells cooperate, cause I wanna get out to at least 100ft.

Longer soaks for dunnie's will be better, but don't forget to weight your pots. Too lite and they will "walk". Also too lite and the pot will move a little with each swell and it can discourage some crabs from entering the pot.

How much weight is a good weight? 3lbs? 5lbs?

Yes, for all the experience crabbers, what is a good weight to keep them on the floor yet not feel like i'm pulling up a bolder.  :smt005

Old thread again, but no-one answered the question regarding how much weight to add to a trap to keep it stable.. I think Chaeki uses the promar which is pretty light weight.. I've got danielsons which weigh a bit more than the promars, but still don't seem too substantial..

How much weight should we add to a light-weight trap to keep it stable without being too heavy to pull up? I was adding some 1.5# weights but maybe that's not enough?

I left my promar's out over Sat night with no weight and they didn't move. There was only a ~4ft tide swing overnight. I only add weight (2lb dive weight) if large tide swings, if really big swells I'm not out there anyway. Never had a problem yet, I use 550lb. paracord so maybe less drag too?

Wow, 5 lbs does seem like quite a bit. I was using some small 1.5 or 2 lbers today so maybe I need to up the weights.

Yep, my avatar is my dog - we had a pet costume contest last year at work and Colby won hands down. I've got some video of him walking around, it's pretty hilarious. He did really well and didn't seem to mind the mask or anything. I'll try to dig it up and put it on YT.

Old post indeed,
Funny thing is this weekend seems to work for me this year.
Anyone hitting HMB this sunday/monday 11/13 or 11/14?
Could be a epic weekend...check out the forcast.

Sunday: WNW wind 5 to 8 kt becoming SSW in the afternoon. A chance of showers. Mixed swell...WNW 4 ft and SSW 1 ft. Wind waves around 1 ft

See Ya Soon,
