Hello,
Just wanted to say that lucky chuck and I are gonna launch out of martinez marina tomorrow in the am at high tide.  High tide is supposed to be 7:12 in the a.m. but I have fished this area quite a bit and the tides are a little odd in this area.  A good launch time looks to be around 745 or so.  There is bait at the launch and the launch is free if you dont have a trailered vessel.  I have to turn in time at my worksite before I get there so if anyone launches before me just go left out of the marina and head for the point ozol pier.  Its a big t shaped pier about a mile away.  Drop anchor in 25 to 30 feet of water when you see the silver railroad box to your left and the right side of the t is facing you, or, watch your finder and check out the awesome dropoff that runs all the way from martinez to that  pier.  It goes from 18' down to 52' in some spots along the way.   John

Shite!

If I would've known earlier I would've tried to swing that. Let us know how it goes, I'd love to fish that area from the yak sometime.

Yeah, sorry about that, it was last minute,  with these tides were having I've been told and have read that its better to fish deep water.  At this spot I like to anchor in 25' and cast off the side to 40'.   Last year, I fished this spot in december in a boat and was told that it was too early.  My friend said that the fish show up here during the first week of january and then split right before the chaos known as the superbowl sturgeon derby.     That night in the course of 4 hours I landed 4 shakers, my buddy landed 3 and lost one that might have been legal by a 1/2" and the guy whose boat it was, used roe for nothing.  We were getting them on grass shrimp.   I will post a report when I get home, hopefully a good one. :smt003

Good luck guys... hope you lay into them.  At the very least, get some good recon on that area.  We need a "weak tide honey hole".
Looking forward to your report.
