I am thinking about hitting here on Saturday. Do you fish for anything else around here. I plan on trying some surf perching and halibut.

I plan on crabing @ Doran for the opener. Never been before and I need to find out what is the best tide for crabing. I would assume it's an outgoing, so that more crab smell your bait.....but hey what do I know. Once I get a time locked down I'll post it.

i live about 5min from doran beach, and monday is my day off  :smt002 so i'll be there.  i'll be there around 9 or so in a blue dodge dakota w/ a red/yellow caster 12.5' on top.  i went out last week about 150yds off doran and pulled about about 8 dungeness that were all legal, so i know there are at least that many there, i think the crabbing will be really good the first few days or week. anyway probably see ya otw monday

We'll be setting the "boat" pots way out and then dump some kayakable pots in the outer bay. Can't wait for the first crab of the season. Cameron, I will send you the gps numbers of the kayak pots if you want to pull and rebait them on the 8th while you are out there or heck ....maybe I will join you.

Looking for a place to launch a zodiac. I know Doran has a launch, where do we set the pots from there? Is there a jetty? May dive for some too. Never been there before and need some intel. Thanks guys.

Yes there is a jetty, but i don't think pots around it are going to work.  About every minute today another giant powerboat has rolled by my house.  If you are gonna be on a boat i would imagine the place to be would be farther out in the bay.  I don't know that diving would be the best idea w/ the rains vis probably won't be to good, and i am pretty sure that tomales bay can't harvest oysters till tomorrow because of something.

Anyway i plan on being there @ 7ish tomorrow morning w/ my one crab ring lol.  Does anyone know if it is cool to launch a kayak from the beach or do i have to use the boat ramp and paddle all the way around?

you can launch from the beach if the surf allows, but the day use area by the jetty is more protected, cameron

I don't know if Cassini is still open, but it is a short drive to Bodega from there.

I can't make Monday Cameron, but good luck to you. I am going to try for tomorrow and possibly Vet's day.

I think I am heading back up to Salt Point now to hang with the fellas. Now that the wife is not going I can head up to Salt Point and get to the annual party. Good luck out there. I think I will try to set some pots or smoke some up there.
