Splash guard/well seal on the Hobie Marage drive...is it worth installing?  Does it work?  Advantages are what exactly?

BTW, I love the new 2011 Hobie Sport so far.  Nice features added since 2008.

I added mine is seems to only really make the openings smaller...and it keeps small items from falling thru the well..

Mine came installed already, and the one advantage I saw was when I catch bait, it no longer gets stuck in the hole  :smt005

That's what I thought.  I'll keep it off for now, and just keep a closer eye on those $4 tungsten punching weights.
