Can any one tell what species this is. I caught it trolling a J9 Rapala in the Quarry.

It's a pikeminnow/squawfish, Ray.  Alameda creek is loaded with them.  They are native.

Thanks.Probly got pumped in from the creek.Also Caught one when the Quarry first opened.

It's a pikeminnow/squawfish, Ray.  Alameda creek is loaded with them.  They are native.

 do they get big? Are they like a pike, hence the name?

The name pikeminnow was made up by a bunch of biologists a few years ago when they decided the name squawfish was no longer PC. They are not related to pike (esox).
So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains, where the spirits go...........
