Maiden Voyage MBK 10/15

Sorry for the late post but I’ve been busy these past few days. After doing extensive research here on ncka.org (thanks to everyone’s posting) I finally jumped the gun and purchased my first kayak. I went with the Ocean Kayak Trident 13 after demoing various brands during my self rescue class. On 10/15 the GF and I went to MBK so can I can finally take my maiden voyage out to slay some fish. My GF rented from the crew at MBK who were very helpful and friendly .  It was my birthday weekend so I was excited to catch some fish, so the target of the day was rockfish with frozen squid. It was a great day fishing on the water, not only was the weather perfect, but bite was also on. I caught my first 3 fish within 30mins, and I was hoping the GF would just catch one as she watched me reel in fish after fish. An hour later I had 5 fish in the cooler and the GF 0. She was still waiting patiently for her first fish . Although I had enough fish for the both of us my day wasn’t complete unless she finally reeled one in.  Then BAM!!!…line started peeling on my baby’s line. She was using my 7ft MH bass rod and her pole was bending viciously on the side of her kayak. I went over to help her out and push aside the kelp to pull the fish out…out came a 25inch ling.  After a few WHOO-HOO’s and a couple pics we paddled back to MBK and ended our day at London Bridge Pub for happy hour. It was a great way to start off my B-day weekend and a great way to bless the new yak!!!!

Man, that must have been fun!!!    Congrads on taking the plunge and getting out there and scoring some fish your first time out!  Big congrads to your lady, who IMHO out fished you in quality    Keep them reports coming and get out and join some hookups with the other NCKA SOUTH guys!!!
