Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

Mike, thanks for the article link.  But, I really question how rare green sturgeon really are considering:
1) The last (and only) two sturgeon I ever caught were green sturgeon
2) Mooch's first and only sturgeon was a green sturgeon.
3) Today,  Freddie caught a green sturgeon at our San Pablo Honey Hole.

Is that just pure coincidence?....  or these fish making a dramatic comeback.  Perhaps, I should notify the feds of our greenies.

It doesn't matter much anyway since green sturgeon rarely are large enough to be a 'keeper'.  They're supposed to be medicre eating compared to white sturgeon too.  It could be that the rarity of catching a keeper green is indicative that there is severe depletion among the older greens, perhaps they spend more years in the slot limit than white sturgeon do.

It should be kept in mind that once a species is labeled 'threatened' or 'endangered' it usually stays that way forever.  It'd be far better for F&G to take action to limit the catch locally and create a recovery plan than to allow the species to be listed.  F&G is considering allowing zero take anyway.  If that happens, listing green sturgeon would only be useful for stealing folks land in spawning areas and imposing crippling gear restrictions on us.
