Hi All
Alistair from the Macski factory in South Africa here. Just a quick hello to everyone on the forum. If any Macski owners out there need assistance or advice with their craft, please let me know. Or anyone who has a fibreglass craft or query - we'd be happy to contribute where we are able to.

Welcome to the board, I've heard of your boats but know very little about them.

One of the things we do enjoy are fishing reports from other parts of the world, if your company has any type of fishing forum I'm sure we'd appreciate an occasional report.

Thanks for offering your expertise and again check in every once in awhile.......

Welcome!

I always liked the looks of the macSkis, just not the weight. I got to check one out a few years back at the Hall show in San Fran.

Very curious to hear /see more of these yaks over here in Cali.

There's a thread on here about designing the "perfect fishing kayak" :smt003

Sean / SBD used to have a couple of those. I believe he ended up selling 'em.

 you are right.

Just found the macski that Chucke had for the HMB Tourney raffle. Tin / VWtech ended up drawing the winning ticket!

I think Dave Batts has a macski, older version.  Fished/Dived with him once-  It looks pretty cool. No seatback, but it looks simple and clean, with a nice hatch in the middle to stow away fish, abs and gear.

Thanks for checking in Alistair! I've always wanted to paddle a Macski because they're built for rough surf launches (from what I've seen/heard) and we do a lot of that here in Norcal. Do you know if there are any local retailers where we can check em out in person?

Yes, the Macskis from a couple of years ago weren't the lightest. However, since then we have introduced new manufacturing techniques and materials to bring the weight down by a massive 10kg (22 lbs). A new Macski Kingfisher now comes out the mould at under 20kg (44lbs) and fully fitted weighs 23 - 24kg (50 - 53lbs) - depending on colour.

The Kingfisher was designed for rough surf launches!! And this is where it truly excels.
They aren't in your local retailers, but I could ship you a demo craft for the members of the Norcal community to try out. If there is someone on the forum that would be willing to coordinate it. If anybody enjoys the demo craft and wants to get one, we could ship them one direct from the factory. Would certainly work out cheaper than buying through the local retailer.

The Kingfisher looks like an awesome diving platform!!! I can just see that cargo net all filled up with abs and sea urchins and a fat LingCod!!

 :smt003

I would be stoked to demo one....if nobody else wants to step up and coordinate it, I would be happy to take on the responsibility....I live pretty central for folks diving/fishing around Monterey, and could easily take it up to the Red Barn/Fort Ross area for anybody who wants to give it a whirl on the Sonomoa Coast!!

Thanks for the info Alistair!!

Jim

As one of the admins here, I'd be happy to coordinate it.  Let's take it to PM.
