I got up this morning and it was'nt raining, so I decided to go to the forbay and try my hand at Striped bass.
I stopped at the bait store close to the forebay, and picked up 6 jumbo minnows, and was told they've been hitting at check 12
also known as the inlet for the Aqueduct.  I got on the water about 8am put in at the boat launch and trolled with a Rebel the south side
of the lake. Into the wind all the way to the Aqueduct, not one hit. I anchored with the other boats toss out one pole with a minnow, and the other I tossed a variety of lures. Spoons, jigs, rattletrap (lost the rattletrap first cast :smt022) No hits.  The wind started to pick up, after about and hr. So I set up to drift the north side of the lake, let the wind take me back :smt023.  About 10min into the drift, I caught a 16"er on the minnow I was draging. Set up again and drifted down to the Mendota inlet, draging a minnow and tossing lures, Nothing. The water was flowing out of the Mendota so I anchored for about an hr. I saw one fish caught out of another boat, but no hits for me. So I pulled up the anchor and drifted/trolled back to the boat launch, still no hits. I was off the water about 1pm, Happy I  caught my first Striper of the year out of the yak, even though it wasn't legal...

Beats sitting at home watching TV..

Thanks for the forebay report craig, I have been thinking about hitting it sometime soon. What was the water level like?

The water was only a couple of feet below the high water line of the shore...

Thanks for the report.  I was thinking about hitting it this Friday as I have it off.  I've never done too well with minnows there although I try em all the time.

I know there are some big fish in those lakes, but I've never really had the knack for Striper's

I've fished it in the past, with my I/O boat and not caught anything. I think I'm changing that streak with the kayak
style fishing...

I was going to try the big lake, but the wind report said it was blowing 18 mph, and the lights were flashing.

Hope you make it Friday, I'll be looking for the fishing report..
