I cant believe the visibility!  Was that in the cove?  Or just north, south of?  That was a great video.  How deep were guys diving, the Abs out in the open like that and the visibility is just shocking.  I've had some good visibility days in that area but I dont think ever that good.  Awesome video dude, thanks.

That was really fun to watch!  I have always wondered what the reds looked like down there.
Very, very cool.  :smt001

It was in the cove, about halfway out on right side.  :)

We dove pretty shallow, the vids are all 20-40.
I did do some deeper drops, but the terrain was more sparse, so no vid.
The visibility was nice; it's always a treat to get good water up there.

Great stuff!  Very fun watching. What great vis you guys got. Last time I was there, (Albion gathering) the vis in that cove was lousy. Nice to SEE what's down there.

Thanks for all the kind words guys.   :smt001

Something I noticed when editting - all the funny random things you never notice in the moment.
For example, if you watch carefully, there are 2 rock crabs caught spooning out in the open.   :smt005

That was such a cool vid! Fantastic vis conditions. I think I dove with vis like that maybe 3-4 times total down in socal.

Thanks for bringing us all along Fuzz, that was a fun dive trip (in the camera!)

Yup.
Nope, Eyeofmine housing.
Keep it on, but start/stop recording vid every dive.  Not sure if it saves battery.
Guess & check... & bugging dive partners - "does this look straight?"

I recently watched Stan Lee's Superhumans on History Channel, and one of the episodes was about a freediver who can hold his breath for 5 minutes underwater, wtf!!!

Your video reminded me of that person, just don't understand how you guys are cruising underwater for that long lol.

I'm curious as to know if there are exercises to help you hold your breath longer or to help improve your diving.

Again, f'ing awesome vid!! Thanks again for sharing. You guys rock!! :D

Due to the depths they're found at, Vermillion almost always look molted gray (due to attenuation).
The longer wavelengths of the red end of spectrum get intercepted much quicker.

Here's an illustration NCKA member Amadeo Bachar did for Nat.Geo:

Threw this together from my last dive.  Decent amount of fish on this one ridge - blues, olives, reds, & sheephead (easy to id by their white jaws).
It was end of the day & the water was hazy, so vis is poor.

Crappy footage, but it does a good job of showing what they look like at depth.
Most striking is how much the reds light up when hit with my eLED light.   :smt001

* Again, even with poor quality, it looks better if opened in youtube with 720res.
