Headed for south Lake Tahoe on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of Oct. (wedding anniversary). Got the O.K. from the wife to do some yak fishing. Thinking about going after Macks or Browns even though I have know experience fishing for them. The preliminary reports have been good on Lake Tahoe. Silver lake, Davis, or Bucks Lake could also be a possibility. If there is anybody in the area that want's to hook up, pm me. and we can exchange info. I'm open to any Ideas. Any tips on fishing techniques for Lake Trout or Brown Trout on Tahoe would be greatly appreciated.

BA, good luck at Tahoe!
But, be careful those one armed bandit fish do bite. :smt003

Haven't had the chance to fish Tahoe from the yak yet, but Caples, Silver, Fallen Leaf, are good lakes nearby. I've had some spectacular fishing days on those lakes in the Fall. Also the Aspen trees are usually going off.

We have mostly pulled Rapala's in rainbow or brown trout colors for planters and natives some good sized. Did catch a 6lb Mack on a pike patterned rapala once at Silver.

Earlier in the summer I fished the area right near the Silver Lake launch and caught 8 fish, browns and rainbows in about 20 mins. I was casting and stripping some kind of nymph pattern with the fly rod.

Let us know how you do, I want to get up there one last time before I have to break out the skiis and snowboards.
