Hey guys, I'll making a few more trips out to the American this week before the weather starts really cooling down (I can only hope so  :smt001).  I'll be fishing out of Discovery moving upstream.  Trips will be in the evening right after work ~5:30 - 6ish till dusk.  I'll be trolling the whole time.  If anyone wants to join shoot me a PM.

Took a trip (non 'yak) to the A/R tonight.  Fished the discovery area for a big ''0''.  At least I fed the mosquitos  :smt105.  I'm getting sick and tired of seeing guys catch dinky Stripers and keeping them...it's getting old.  It's really a tough pill to swallow.  Sacramento is really beginning to take a dive (in general)...it makes this 25 year old wonder how the next 25 years (God willing) are going to play out  :smt010.

...sorry, had to get that off my chest

On a brighter note I saw some really nice Salmon surface  :smt001.  Let's hope for some good numbers!!

Don't feel so bad I fished the upper American from San Juan Rapids-down, from poppers to bait with no love. I feel you, there was a lot of F-ing bugs out tonight, it must be the hot weather.

Another month and the American opens Oct. 30 through Nov. 28 from the SMUD power line crossing at the southwest boundary of Ancil Hoffman Park downstream to the mouth of the American River with a daily bag and possession limit of two Chinook salmon.  :smt054  ahh kind of  like the good old days!

Can't wait to start fishing for Salmon  :smt003.  I gotta find a way to rig up my yak for an anchor.  I know some killer spots below the pump house at CSUS.  Flat lining k13's always put fish in the boat...woooooo can't wait!

Let me know if you want to hook up for salmon when it opens up. What kind of kayak do you have for rigging up an anchor?

When I went to Sac State I use to fish from the rocks in between classes. Salmon fishing right there was usually pretty good. As you probably know salmon have a acute sense of smell and with the water treatment plant pump house right there pumping new water into the river the salmon have a tendency to circle around until they find there bearing and head up river. I have always had good luck with spoons in that spot.

I'll be rigging up my Hobie Outback.  We'll have to definitely hit that spot when Salmon season opens up.  Right now I'm kind of hooked on Striper fishing the lower A/R otherwise I'd start scouting spots from the Bus 80 bridge on up.  Once I get that 40" Striper I'll start my recon trips  :smt003.

SS - I might be able to join you on Wed. pending wife approval...

Been really wanting to paddle that spot for stripes.

Sucks some "sportsmen" don't know how to play fair. Personally, I never see anybody keeping small stripes. Maybe they think I'm "The Man"  :smt044

OK SS, The boss says I'm OK to go tomorrow eve. I'll plan on trolling some large lures upriver and casting flies or soaking some smelly bait on the way back. Where would you want to park, South side under the freeway? - novofish
