Wanted to check out the Sacramento salmon fishing situation this morning. Loaded up the bicycle and headed for the river. Started my 30 mile ride at Watt Ave. Rode down the American and Sac rivers to Miller park and back. Lots of people on the trail, low-rider car clubs displaying their cars at Disco and Gold Rush Days at Old Sac. Great day for a ride.

Arrived at Disco and checked out the ramp. Lots of ski boats, but only one fishing boat. Headed over the Jaboom bridge expecting to see boats lined up along the color line, only two...what a surprise. Cruised towards Old Sac and stopped at the pump for pics. There were only a few boats fishing the stretch between Disco and the Tower bridge. Continued to Miller Park only to find a few boats on the river between Tower and Miller.

Made one more stop at the Disco ramp on my way back and talked to two boaters that just got off the water. Both said nothing caught and neither saw anyone else catch a salmon today. Looks like a slow start in the Sac area.

Here's a few random pics I took with my cell phone. Quality isn't very good.

Enjoy,
