Apply a little heat. Them use fine grain sand paper to knock off the burrs that it's getting hung up on.

If you have the push button release, when you get it apart; pull out the release and clean it also.  Once a year I pull mine out and clean in with sandpaper, and then apply some primer to help preserve it.  After each use I wash it good with fresh water and when dry add some WD-40.  And like already said use fine sandpaper.

When I remember to do it I spray the parts that lock together with silicone.
I always take the paddle down into two pieces after every outing also. jim

Whatever you do, don't try to use a wrench or pliers to grip the paddle shaft. If there is a sure fire way to destroy your paddle, that would be it.

I have a sticky paddle and the guys at MBK taught me this technique where you have one guy on each end of the paddle pulling while you bang on the ferrule section with your fist. Works every time.

get a hobie :smt001
My new Hobie paddle sticks  :smt012  If its hot out, I cannot get it unstuck.  Toss it in the truck and when I get home, two people can pull it apart.  :smt009  Gonna try shaving some of the plastic to get it easier to separate.
