Ok fellas its almost that time. This is the first year in 3 years that we valley fisherman get a chance to hookup on sum salmon. Im sure the fishin aint going to be hot like in the past, but a wet line is a wet line and you never know! I personally think dfg should've waited a few more years before opening a season on salmon again as i think most of us could just tell by the numbers seen caught and at the dam are horrible! But hey, im in AOTY and need the points! Any fish caught by me will most likely be let go to continue his or her journy!

Now if you've been paying any attention to the feather r. reports and opener, then you would know that its going to be COMBAT fishin on opening day here in SAC. Any where from clarksburg up to knights landing its going to be Packed with boats, guides, fisherman, and the wakers! A lot of boat traffic and wakes for us kayakers. Not safe! Thats why Im thinkin of launching at  Merrits Landing down river below the zoo! Its a county  day use park and launch and its free! Its like 8 miles down river from freeport and not far from city limits! Enough parking as well! But well away from most of the crowd! Ill be out there early as norm and will be bringing the BBQ as well! Flatfish, quickfish, big spinners, and jigs count for most of the fish around here! Stripers are a good alternative as well in this area and are sure to be around and biting so bring sum sardines just in case. If anybody has any questions on wat to bring or expect please pm me.  fishworks

I hope you do well and look forward to your report. I'll wait a few days and will probably try the Miller Park or Garcia Bend areas.

I need to check with the boss.  If she says yes, then I'm there!

By the way, were you fishing near CSUS at about 4 today?  I thought I saw two kayak anglers near the water treatment structure.

I'm not sure if I will make it out this weekend but I will definitely make it out either on the Sac or on the American I'll keep you posted Ricci. I'm working on welding up a SS drift anchor set up for the Trident right now but if all else fails I'll take the Cobra out and fish.

I attached the Inland Salmon Seasons and Regulations Adopted for Central Valley, Klamath, Trinity Rivers  that were released in May if anyone wants to view them.

yes exactly ben, it'll be a zoo in and around the sac area from freeport to the mouth of the american and theres  no way your going to catch me on my yak in the middle of that! Bunch of freakin idoits out here in this river! Ill wait till the following week and weeks after the opener to hit the honey holes from garcia bend to miller park! Mid week, and late and early morning are going to be the best times to get out on the yak! Once things do settle down a bit, ill most likely make drifts from miller to garcia jigging and trolling and then probably try just outside of the mouth on anchor w/ a flatfish.

Well... WOW!  :smt007  I want to try for a Salmon!  But, like others, feel like this weekend is too busy to work for it...  My next available date is 25th/26th.  I have no clue how to catch one either.  But if someone is willing to take me under their wing, i'm down to try anyway!  :smt003

Al, ill definelty take you under my wing if you want to come up to sac and try for some salmon and stripers! Its actually quite successful to catch salmon or stripers on the anchor up here in the sac...1 pole out rigged  w/ a flatfish or quickfish sardine wrapped working in the current, while having another rod out w/ bait for stripers is a deadly combo! Of course drifting and jigging like we do for rockfish is also deadly for these river run salmon. give me a pm whenever and ill dial u in on what u need to catch up here.
