I recently for Christmas spent some time in the islands.  The charters were not worth it.  The bottom fishing was cheap, easy, and you get a great meal on the trip.  Your tackle is provided, rod and reel.  This is a red striped goatfish, I caught one more small reef fish.  I threw all my fish back.  Not very productive on the boat, but a great trip, lots of turtles, flying fish, and humpback whales.  Now that I know how to fish over there I can rent a kayak next time and start really fishing! 80* outside, 76* water, what crappy Christmas weather! Hah!      ALOHA!
