just a warning the recessed screw on mine in front started pulling though, i guess i am hard on my equipment and it looked like they drilled to deep also, so for a fix i put a fender washer and a new button head bolt. keep an eye on yours :smt003

I'm having a hard time picturing the pulley up front.  Gonna have to go and take a look at mine.

I WD40 the hell out of my pullies on the inside and it makes a world of difference on the amount of stress I put on them.
I also grease the cables on the rear where they exit the kayak. Both the up/down lever and the rudder lever move much smoother since I have been doing this. I imagine less force needed to get things moving puts less stress on the pullies.
