Hi guys - I decided to get a new Shimano Trevala TVC-66MH-2 Rod.

I want to take it to cabo this winter so a 2-piece will be easier to travel with.  My questions is, since I want this to be my main kayak rod , do you see a problem with a 2-piece vs 1-piece?

Thanks!

That's my favorite RF Rod!!!  And as far as two pieces go, this one separates just above the reel/handle, so the main part of the rod is all one piece!  Down side is its not 1/2, its like 1/3 size when apart.  That said, I have yet to even separate it  :smt044

thx for the 411.  I have the 1 piece Trevala, and have been on the fence for awhile for a 2-piece rod.

Decent price!  :smt002  I paired mine with a Shimano Cardiff 401A (Lefty) which has ample spool capacity, and is decently priced.  Kept it running for 2 years with just a rinse, until I 'donated' my combo to Shelter Cove  :smt010  Went out and bought the exact same combo as soon as I could afford it  :smt002

Got the 1 piece at Mel Cotton's last a week ago. Paired it up with an Avet SX, awesome setup!!! Took it out to Bean last Sat. so needless to say my time got cut a little short but the lightness is awesome.

They had that rod in 2pc at Mel Cotton's too, sale is until Sunday. If anyone cant find the 20% off one item coupon let me know. All fishing stuff is 10% off too.

<Edit: I actually got the TVC-66M not the MH>

golfish - Glad you like it because that's exactly what I'll have.    Trevala and avet sx, that'd be my go to combo and have the ugly stick/shimano TR 200 as a backup.

Did you mag your SX? Looking through the internet it seems pretty easy.

I have both of the Trevala two piece. The heavy and
the medium heavy. Both are paired with Avet SX as
well. I honestly think it is perfect match.

Near 40Lb WSB was caught on this rod. Felt very confident during the hookup and brought the beast in without skipping a beat. I two have it matched with the Avet SX. Frank

That's a great price. I just paid $119 + tax at Outdoor Pro. I love the rod. Bought it so I can stow it on surf launches. I've caught a couple seabass on it and it handled them fine.
