After three full days hunting wsb and three big zeros for the water time I needed a break from the 'fever' and went diving a couple days this week. First day was epic with good vis and FAC conditions = three fat 9"s for both M2 and myself.

Today we went back out and expected more FAC and were surprised to find a little swell had popped up. The spot we dove on Monday was a washing machine so got back in the truck and headed up the coast a bit more. Spot #2 had breaking 2-3ft waves but looked good once you got out past these about 100yds out.

First two descents didn't see any abs at 15ft. Went over to 20ft and dropped down to find my first 10.25" ab!
Got a little excited and came up, spit out the snorkel, gave a big whoop, and promptly swallowed a mouthful of saltwater.  :smt003 After that I lost my focus and was forgetting to equalize until I was already on the bottom, swallowing air into my stomach, just looking at abs instead of guaging them, etc. Pulled two 8"+ers and called it a day as my mind wasn't in the hunt mode after scoring that first one.

M2 pounded away at it in 20-25ft and finished off with three very thick 9"+ers. WTFG dude!  :smt001

I figure if WSB = the big prize, & a halibut = the consolation prize,
 then a 10"er should be good for the booby prize.....But.....I like boobies.  :smt007  :smt007  :smt007  :smt044  :smt044  :smt044

Yep, congrats Jim. I feel like we pushed our limits a bit as far as conditions and depth and I'm glad we did. It gives me a better idea of what I'm capable of.
Let's do it again.

Nice job! I am still looking for the elusive 10 but will keep trying. Great you were able to collect the boobie prize but can't feel to bad for you when you say " After three full days hunting wsb and three big zeros" . Man you were lucky enough to fish 3 straight days! That alone shoud never make anyone feel bad and it's not about catching the fish it is about the times spent on the water! ( well at least that is what I tell myself when I get blanked   :smt044).
