when life gets in the way of life...

what is there to do when work gets crazy and you spend all your time trying to figure it out?
how do you deal with everpresent pain, soreness and tiredness?
what keeps it all in line when you just want to tell everyone within 10 miles to F off?
when a nap seems like perfection, but exercise is better for your health, which do you choose?
at what point do you decide to "work to live" rather than "live to work"? and how is the distinction made?
what is the timeframe you are willing to put up with an ass for a boss when the payoff is worth 10 years experience for your career?

and how often do you say no to medications and just bite the bullet, only to give up later and take the damn things?

well, sorry about that.
I cant tell if its just a long summer or if I am just a big wimp...

Live today for tomorrow's sake.
We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

I hear you brother!  :smt004 Though I'm definitely a weekend Yak Warrior, i'm more and more displeased working in my current job due to stressful and impossible situations where I get dumped on for sharing opinions or telling people to do the right things all the time.  I relish the weekend time with my yaking buddies and the continual search for new and interesting places to visit (and fish!).  But Monday inevitably roles around at the end of the weekend and the spiritual high I've built up is dissolved by the same stupid crap going on at work day after day...

Someday, this will change!  At least I keep telling myself that  :smt044  What I feel like I need is a complete change of pace.  But, with my current career its hard to work anywhere outside the bay area and I really have no other skills that I can fall back on.  So... For now, its back to WORK  :smt005

I recently read "the drunkard's walk", a book on how the randomness of our universe dictates that our personal success can only be attained through continued efforts.
Our lives are a series of up & down cycles, and perseverance is our only chance to get across the "troughs of suck".

So I endeavor to persevere...

i'm more and more displeased working in my current job due to stressful and impossible situations where I get dumped on for sharing opinions or telling people to do the right things all the time.

Geez Al, do we work at the same place?  :smt003

Randomness rules the universe. Perseverance is the only path to success..but luck sometimes works too.

Hang tough Jim. I'm basically near the other end of the spectrum. Worked one hour today and wished it was eight.
Make time for your fishing and things will be better. jim

Jim -- I hear you loud and clear. I may be self employed, but that just gives me more bosses <g>. And the med thing, we should compare notes ... I've gotten rid of a few Rx's all to the better.

The other perspective might be:
It's probably better to have a job with an a$$hole of a boss than not, and having the choice of taking those meds or not... as frustrating as it gets you don't have to look far to see how it could be a lot worse.

Could always be in Iraq or Afghanistan fighting for our lives with the small core of people that matter. Then if we make it home be haunted by living on such an edge that present living we have problems readjusting to those things that most of us take for granted like just plain 'ole Serenity who most misidentify as boredom. Gratitude is an amazing gift. Just an Old Timers prospective. Vietnam 70-71

PS: Having run my own business for the past 20 yrs. I still get into arguments with the boss who I admit can be a real Assh--e! :smt002
