Hey Mooch~
Where is the rule about only one pole in the water when fishing for sturgeon.
I am not doubting you at all, I just want to read what they have to say.
This is another reason why I won't buy a life time license. I have no idea from year to year what the regs will be. In 10 years who knows, The rules might be so stringent that I will end up living in another state.

It's not sturgeon specific. ANYTIME you are fishing in SF Bay you can only use one pole EXCEPT when fishing from a public pier, in which case you may use two poles.

So, where is everyone getting bait?

I saw Loch Lomond and Western Boat both listed in this thread.

It sounds like Western Boat is near the launch. Is this correct?

Can I map Western Boat & Tackle to get directions (almost) to the launch?

I'll probably pump my own ghostshrimp, but would also like to pick up some grasshrimp and possibly a bullhead or two.

TIA

Can't find the DFG rules (I'm sure it's written somewhere in there) but like what Rockhopper pointed out - it's the general rule of the Bay.  :smt011 UNFORTUNATELY  :smt013

What time does Western Boat Open?
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

I found my answer in the Q&A section of the DGF web site as follows:

Q. How many fishing rods and hooks can I use when sport fishing in the ocean?

A. Any number of hooks and fishing lines may be used in all ocean waters and bays with the following exceptions:

You can only use one line with no more than three hooks while fishing in San Francisco and San Pablo bays between the Golden Gate Bridge and the west Carquinez Bridge.
When you are fishing from a public pier you can use only two rods and lines, two hand lines, or two crab nets, crab traps or other appliances used to take crabs.
When you are fishing for rockfish or lingcod or you have rockfish or lingcod aboard your boat, you can only use one line with no more than two hooks.
If you are fishing north of Point Conception for salmon or have salmon on board your boat, you can only use one rod and line with no more than two single barbless hooks (check current salmon regulations for other hook restrictions)

I didn't know only one rod was allowed when fishing for rockfish or lingcod...I should have saved my $$$ and stuck with one rod!

It's getting close to the point where it'll say any number of rods/hooks are allowed in the ocean unless FISHING.  ;)

New reel - CHECK
Anchor set-up - CHECK

Everything is already to go - leaving in an hour or so to pump some shrimp.

See you cats tomorrow morning.
