Went out yesterday with "The Prophet" on his second time in the ocean yak fishing trip.  We were targeting cali hali.  After a few impressive break offs Prophet landed this 5' shark.  My best ID is it's a Soupfin shark, meets all the descriptions I can find.  If anyone knows what it is let me know.  Caught it in about 20 FOW on the bottom in the cove on a cut plug herring.

I tried some on the bbq and has great flavor but a little chewey.  If we had known it was a soupfin would have saved the fins and tried soup but didn't realize what it was.  Anyway it was a great experience for the prophet on just his second go, he's hooked now for sure.

We also had an 8'-10'- thresher jump 3' out of the water about 30' behind me an hour before catching this shark.  I trolled my thresher proven rapala for an hour or so after that but no luck on the thresher.

Yes, looks like it's the Soupfin.  Thanks for the report and picture Dan.
