Our surf perch fishing report is attached.  Hopefully Bill or someone can open it in a way that you don't have to click the attachment.

Merry Fishing to all and to all a good catch.

Randy and Pat,

Glad you had some fun with the perch. Merry Christmas and hope to see you guys tomorrow. Weather might be a little wet, but I think the fish will still be on the hit. :smt001

Santa came early and left us a couple of 9’6” steelhead rods.  Not wanting to seem ungrateful we rushed over to the beach next to the old Monterey Beach Hotel and let them taste some surf.  It was an incredible Christmas Eve.

The Perch assassin at work:

We tossed grubs into the rips and holes just north of the hotel.

One was even a good size and loaded up Pat’s rod nicely.

Our total for an incredibly pleasant hour was 7 BSP total.  Most were small, but Pat caught one nice, chubby little guy.  We caught them on MORFs, MO gold flakes, and the largest on a  Slider 1 ½” MO glitter orange crappie grub.  We used ½” egg sinkers and 2’-3’ 8# leaders tipped with #8 live bait hooks.

Thanks to Alex for all the great tips.

Merry Christmas to all!

Randy
