What does everyone think about making an effort to compost and recycle at the Albion tourney? The campground may not do this, but I'd be willing to bring up paper bags for all things compostable and recyclable and bring them back to SF for proper disposal if necessary.

Paper plates, paper napkins, bones, skins, plant matter, etc can all be composted. Anybody else into this?

I think it's a spectacular idea.

Thank you.

IMO we should do this anyway, at all events...  not only to make cleanup easier, but to set an example as stewards of the environment.

If everybody made the effort to bring their own (re-usable) plates, cups and utensils....it would be awesome!

We done this at several fish and chills and it's really not that hard to do.....

just my 2 cents....

I agree this would be a great idea i recently purchased metal camp ware to reduce the amount of plastic and paper i and my Fiance consume. I have been practicing this at home as well if everyone tried this we would greatly reduce waste and landfill mass. :smt109 :wav:

ALways a great idea to reduce and re-use all of what we have on this planet. It will only make a better world for the next generation of NCKA's ( any other affiliation with the ..KA at the end)...

This makes a huge dent in waste production.

BTW, this also means no plastic baits.  :smt002

We always use plastic-ware when camping now thanks to Mooch!  :smt002 Its CHEAPER than paper, just stop by a dollar store before camping!  Keep your fork on you!  Cups can be used as bowls!  I really like my stainless steel mug I got from REI, can be placed on the fire for making tea or warming up food.  The thing I'm trying to do this year is use re-usable containers for food, rather than lots of zip-lock backs, foil, etc.

here's a mooch tip.....just buy a cheap tupper wear, a spork and a tin mug. Use the tupper wear for eating and when done, you can store your spork or other utensils inside your tupper wear. the tupper wear is also good for storing food and for washing utensils and mug. I bought one from west marine that folds flat and is also microwave safe.

Like Al, mentioned, a tin cup can easily be left on the fire to keep food or drinks warm.

I had a friend who used his freeze bee as a plate when we when on backcountry hiking trips. It also served as a cutting board and a drinking bowl.....

Glad so many are in agreement.
Oh, and I also propose that filleted fish carcasses go directly back to sea rather than into a dumpster - what's the fish-cleaning setup like there?
I hate throwing them in dumpsters knowing that they're destined for the landfill.
Thanks everyone!
