I hope this is in the right forum and it does not violate any rules.  If it does, please let me know and I will delete it.

I am in the market for a OK Trident 13 in yellow with the factory angler package.  I have visited all of the dealers I could identify in the Sacramento & southern bay area.  The price is fairly standard and so is the service/advice in the stores.  Generally, very helpful.  I decided to buy the one advertised here, http://kayakcity.com/, but I was told they were unavailable.

I visited both Kayakcity/Adventure Sports stores, and like the one on the American River, but was a little put off by the main store.  Frankly, it was a mess and the sales people I talked to there were not real helpful.  I visited the main store on 2 different occasions and talked to at least 2 sales people.  So, when I was told the advertised kayak was not available and no more would be available, and the website does not look like it is going to change in the near future, I decided that Kayakcity was not for me.  If you can’t keep the store clean and you advertise merchandise you can’t deliver, how well will you really care for me as a customer?  I do like and appreciate the time and assistance given to me by the sole sales person at the American River location, that is why I tried to buy the OK from him, but he does not really have any control.  All he could do is say there are none available.

So now, I either have to purchase one at another store here in this area, or I just order this one,  http://www.austinkayak.com/catalog_package.php?ID=1502.  Even with shipping, and it is free this month, this would be the least expensive way to go.  But, I am willing to spend a little more to have a local, Sacramento or nearby dealer.

Like I wrote, they all seem about the same to me, at least from the sales person and price perspective, so I don’t really have a second choice in mind.  So, I am asking for recommendations for a dealer to buy a kayak from.  Any suggestions or comments are most welcome.  If you don’t want to post to this forum, please PM me.

Thanks!

Clavey River Sports in Petaluma should have them. They are sponsoring the Albion Open Kayakfishing Tournament to be held on July 31st. Or you could just enter the contest.....first prize is a T-13 angler edition.....in yellow I think.

+1 on Clavey, GREAT people, Super supporters/sponsors of NCKA, cool store. Petaluma location. I believe they are having a Kayak sale right now . . .707.766.8070

Another long-time sponsor and supporter of the sport and NCKA is Aquan Sports. Talk to Matt or Vince at 650.593.6060 - tell 'em you heard about them from NCKA and that Mooch sent ya (I don't think Mooch will mind I took the liberty of adding his name here) - they are in San Carlos.

Kayak packages are on sale now at Claveys 15% off. 766-8070 ask for Scott and tell him you are NCKA for an extra 10% off accessories. Craig

Well, it looks like I will be on my way to check out Clavey tomorrow.  It figures, everyone recommends the one place I did not go!

Thanks,

BOB

BOB thanks for supporting a NCKA supporting sponsor. Make sure they know you found them via NCKA. They will appreciate knowing.

Off to Clavey's.  If it all works out, which I believe it will, I will try to post some pictures of my new Yak!

Don't forget Ca. Canoe and Kayak.  They don't carry Ocean Kayaks, but they offer free paddle demos on just about everything else... which is an invaluable service, imo.

The customer service is stellar.
