grey whales

 I was fishing off Lighthouse Point in Santa Cruz in June last year when a gray whale  took me completely by surprise when it surfaced and blew about 35' away. I was not looking in that direction at the time and the noise totally startled me. It was kinda like having King Kong sneak up behind you and snort or something. Awesome.

Nate/Bungle and I were out at Bean last year and we hear what sounded like rain. We both turned to look in the direction it came from. Then up comes a feeding whale with its mouth fully open(just like on T.V.)The baitfish were jumping, making the rain sound. It's whole head came out, all the water filtered down,then it's mouth closed. We watched it sink straight back into the ocean. Less than 50yards away it all went down.
i will never forget that felling of WHAT DO I DO?
